3. The criteria with which to judge whether admission should be given for an applicant who wishes to enter postgraduate training program

In order to annually judge whether or not admission for the postgraduate training program should be given, the Department holds a residency examination prepared by Osaka University Dental Hospital and it is essential for an applicant to pass this exam. In addition, the applicant has to pass another separate examination for residency, also given by the Department.

[Entrance examination subjects for residency program]
1. A short essay and a written examination on general education:
With the short essay, the applicant's logical thinking power, expressivity, and character are comprehensively evaluated. With an examination on general education, the evaluation of his/her thinking power, common sense, and knowledge as a member of society are made in a wide-ranging and inclusive manner.
2. A test of the applicant's practical skills:
Evaluation on the skills acquired in laboratory exercises and clinical exercises
3. Interview:
An interview is given to examine whether the applicant has the qualities needed for an orthodontist as an oral health expert and also a dental researcher, as well as to evaluate the applicant's general attitude, human nature, and keen interest in social problems.

[Screening methods ]
Overall evaluations are made based on a transcript of the applicant's undergraduate school record, the results of his/her written examination, and the test of his/her practical skills and the interview.
The Department will select the applicant because of his/her personal character, irrespective of sex, or the name of the university from which he/she graduated.
