The Department of Orthodontics of Osaka University Dental Hospital was founded in the early Showa period and was originally part of the Faculty of Medicine. In 1953 it became independent of the Osaka University Medical Hospital and made a new start as the Department of Orthodontics of Osaka University Dental Hospital.

The Department of Orthodontics, unlike ordinary dental clinics or clinics at general hospitals, performs critical functions as both a professional dental clinic and an educational and research institution. We are not only providing a dental treatment to patients but also training dental specialists. Furthurmore, upon a long term vision, we are working on both academic and clinical research to contribute to our society.

We believe that today's highly advanced orthodontic treatment is based upon diagnosis, training, and research. The Department of Orthodontics is comitted to ensure that patients are provided with the best and most advanced dental care.
